Inovev forecasts 40,000 units per year of the new Range Rover
The British carmaker Land Rover, owned by the Indian group Tata Motors, has just unveiled the fifth generation of its flagship, the Range Rover, whose origins date back to 1970, when the brand was part of the British Leyland group. The Range Rover is still the top-of-the-range model of the brand, although it has split since 2005 with a Sport version (Range Sport) and a coupe version since 2017 (Range Velar).

The Range Rover had a good period between 2012 and 2015, going from 30,000 sales to 60,000 per year, before seeing its sales decline between 2015 and 2021, from 60,000 sales to 35,000 per year.

The new model will try to reconnect with the boom years. Much of the inspiration for Range Rover is the sleek, clean design of the Range Velar. Its dimensions increase to 5.05 m (and even 5.25 m for the long version), which makes it a privileged competitor of the Mercedes GLE/GLS, BMW X5/X7, Audi Q7/Q8 and Volvo XC90.

The selected engines are as follows: two 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel, with a power of 250 and 350 horsepower, and a 4.4-liter petrol V8 of 530 horsepower from BMW. The Range Rover will subsequently be available in two plug-in hybrid versions, as well as a battery electric version in 2024.

The new Range Rover will be produced at the historic Solihull site from early 2022. Inovev forecasts 40,000 units per year. The new Range Rover Sport is expected to be unveiled in summer 2022.
