The Toyota Yaris remains the most produced car in France in 2021
The Toyota Yaris remained the most produced car in France in 2021 (as in 2020), ahead of the Peugeot 3008 which had beaten it in 2018 and 2019. There was only one generation of Yaris produced at the Onnaing site last year, while the previous year two generations had accumulated, and the total production was 156,464 units against 147,547 Peugeot 3008s produced at Sochaux. In 2020, the Toyota Yaris had been produced at 188,142 units (including two generations) and the Peugeot 3008 at 148,733 units. Despite a 16.8% drop in its production volume in 2021 compared to 2020, the Toyota Yaris remains a European success while the Peugeot 3008 has lost a lot of influence in the last two years mainly due to the success of the Peugeot 2008 which took him many customers, this model being manufactured in Spain and no longer in France.

The Toyota Yaris sold 179,383 units in Europe in 2021, while the Peugeot 3008 did not exceed 150,000 units. The Peugeot 2008, for its part, exceeded 180,000 sales, which means that it would undoubtedly have been the most produced car in France if the Stellantis group had decided to manufacture it in France, like the previous generation.

It should be added that the Onnaing site began manufacturing the Yaris Cross from the third quarter of 2021, and that 47,791 copies left the factory until December 31. The Onnaing plant therefore manufactured a total of 204,255 vehicles in 2021.

Finally, it should be noted that the Czech site in Kolin began production of part of the Toyota Yaris in the fourth quarter of 2021, a production volume which is estimated at 7,730 units manufactured until December 31. The production target for the Yaris in Kolin is 100,000 units per year at cruising speed.
