The BMW Group sold 2.52 million vehicles in 2021
The BMW group (BMW, Mini, Rolls-Royce) sold 2,521,525 light vehicles (passenger car and commercial vehicles) in 2021, up 8.7% on 2020, thus offsetting the 8.4% drop recorded in 2019. The BMW brand sold 2,213,795 vehicles (+9.1%), the Mini brand 302,144 (+3.3%) and the Rolls-Royce brand 5,586 units (+48.7%). The group's sales in China (846,237 sales) posted a new record, but Europe and the United States were not unworthy either, since these two markets grew by 3.9% and 19.5% respectively. , at 948,087 and 366,574 units. These three markets represent 86% of the group's sales in 2021.

The BMW group has therefore supplanted its competitor the Mercedes-Benz group in 2021, which has shed its heavyweight division and which did not exceed 2.43 million in sales last year. The gap is admittedly quite small between the two groups, and if we compare the scores by brand, the Mercedes brand remains ahead, with 2,389,172 units sold, but which include 334,210 light utility vehicles (Sprinter, Vito , Citan). Globally, the BMW group is 10th and the Mercedes-Benz group 11th.

In terms of engines, the BMW Group sold 103,855 all-electric models (BEV) in 2021 and plans to sell double that number in 2022. The best-selling models in this category were the BMW iX3 (37,939 units) , the Mini E (34,851 units) and the BMW i3 (28,216 units). New electric models appeared at the end of 2021 (i4 and iX) and others will appear in 2022 (iX1, i7) and 2023 (i5). Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) accounted for 224,461 BMW Group sales in 2021. In Europe, BEVs and PHEVs accounted for 23% of total BMW Group sales. These models account for 13% of BMW Group sales.
