The Hyundai-Kia Group sold 6.7 million vehicles in 2021
- The Hyundai-Kia group (Hyundai, Kia, Genesis) sold 6.7 million light vehicles (PC+LCV) in 2021, up 5% compared to 2020, after a drop of 11.7% in 2020 compared to to 2019. The Korean group becomes the fourth largest manufacturer in the world, behind Toyota, Volkswagen and Renault-Nissan because the GM group is downgraded to sixth place. However, the gap with the Stellantis group remains very small and we will have to wait until 2023 to find out whether or not the Korean manufacturer will succeed in supplanting the Stellantis group.
- Sales of the Korean group break down into 3.69 million vehicles of the Hyundai brand (representing an increase of 3.9%, 2.78 million vehicles of the Kia brand and 0.2 million vehicles of the recent Genesis brand (which is the manufacturer's Premium brand, like Lexus for Toyota, Infiniti for Nissan or Acura for Honda).
- The global sales in 2021 of the Hyundai-Kia group break down as follows:
§ The USA remains its largest market, with 1.49 million units, or 22% of its global sales.
§ Korea is its second market, with 1.04 million units, or 16% of its global sales.
§ Europe is its third largest market, with 1.02 million units, or 15% of its global sales.
§ China is its fourth market, with 525,000 units, or 8% of its global sales.
- These four markets represent 61% of the Hyundai-Kia Group's global sales in 2021.
