Inovev forecasts 200,000 new Kia Souls per year
Kia (a subsidiary of the Korean group Hyundai-Kia) introduced the new generation of the Soul compact MPV whose origins date back to 2008 and which had been renewed in 2014.

The third generation with SOP in 2018, takes the silhouette of his elders but will only be available in a thermal engine version in North America (2.0 l  petrol engines147hp and 1.6 l turbo 200hp). In other regions (including Europe), the new Kia Soul will only be available in a 100% electric version that already made up a large part of the sales of the previous generation (more than 55% in the first 11 months of 2018).

The engine is the same as the 100% electric Kia e-Niro and Hyundai Kona. It is a permanent magnet motor developing 150kW (the equivalent of 204hp) and powered by a battery of 64kWh, while the previous version was equipped with an electric motor of 81,5kW (110hp) and a battery of 30kWh. The new Kia Soul is therefore twice as powerful.

Its autonomy would be 480km (identical to that of Kona EV) instead of the 250km of the old model.

The Kia Soul will be manufactured as previously on the Korean site of Kwangju ( in the South West of South Korea) alongside the Carens which is soon to be discontinued. Inovev expects annual sales of 200,000 for the new Kia Soul (all engines combined).

Inovev forecasts 50,000 new Hyundai Palisade SUVs per year
The Korean manufacturer Hyundai is completing its SUV range with the Palisade, which is at the top of the range. The Palisade is indeed a large SUV of 4.98m long that can accommodate seven people and is primarily intended for the North American market, which is very fond of large SUVs.

The Palisade is in the Hyundai SUV range above Kona (B-segment), Tucson (C-segment), Santa Fe (D-segment) and Grand Santa Fe (E-segment). The Grand Santa Fe is a lengthened version of the Santa Fe that has seven seats and replaced the iX55 in 2015.

The Palisade features a 295hp V6 3.8l petrol engine, making it the most powerful model in the Hyundai lineup. With its appearance and size, the Palisade intends to compete with the Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Traverse, Toyota Highlander and Sequoia, but also with the Cadillac Escalade, which has a similar style. The Palisade is expected to be produced in South Korea and its production volume should not exceed 50,000 units per year.

This new model will also soon be available in a plug-in hybrid version, like its cousin Kia Telluride (who will share its platform) which will be at the top of the Kia range. This new Kia model is expected to be introduced in the first quarter of 2019.

Electrified cars now account for nearly 50% of the Norwegian market
A majority of electric and plug-in hybrid car sales in a European market i is now possible. Indeed, thanks to numerous (especially tax  related ) incentives, Norway registered, for the first time, 60% of electric cars and plug-in hybrids in September 2018 and 55% in October 2018.

This Nordic country (albeit a major oil producer) holds the record for the percentage of electrified cars in Europe, and is largely ahead of other European countries, and of course largely ahead of other countries such as Japan, the United States, or China.

In 2018, registrations of electric and hybrid cars have reached 47.5% of registrations whereas they do not exceed 2% in Germany, France or England, and they only reach 3% in Finland and 5% in Sweden .

In Japan and the United States, registrations of this type of vehicle are under 2% of the market, while in China they are approaching 4% of the market in 2018.

The rechargeable electric and hybrid vehicles most sold on the Norwegian market in 2018 are the Nissan Leaf (10,375 units over the first 10 months 2018), the VW e-Golf (5,482 units), the BMW i3 (4,525), the Tesla Model X (3,698), the Mitsubishi Outlander (3,035), the Tesla Model S (2,824), the XC60 (2,608) and the Renault Zoe (2,350).

Fiat Chrysler unveils new product strategy for Europe
The Fiat-Chrysler Group unveiled its new product strategy for Europe at the end of November 2018. This is the first time that it was presented by the successor of Sergio Marchionne ,who died last July. The FCA group will continue to favor high-margin models, such as Jeep, Dodge Ram pickups, Alfa-Romeo and Maserati, but will develop in parallel the electric and hybrid engines which are still very marginal in FCA production today.

The Fiat-Chrysler Group absolutely wants to maintain all its factories located in Italy in full activity by bringing new products to each of these production sites:

1On the Pomigliano site, a smaller SUV than the Renegade or / and a mild-hybrid Fiat Panda will be added to the Panda.
2. On the Mirafiori site, an electric Fiat 500 and an Alfa-Romeo E segment SUV will be added to the Maserati Levante.
3. On the Cassino site, a D-segment Maserati SUV will be added to the Alfa-Romeo Giulia and Stelvio.
4. On the Melfi site, the Jeep Compass SUV (destined for Europe) will be added to the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X.
5. On the Val di Sangro site, no model will be added but the manufacturer is counting on a steady increase in light  truck sales  over the next five years, for which there is no guarantee.

Poland's car production halved in ten years
Unlike the Czech Republic and Slovakia, whose car production volume has increased significantly since the beginning of the 21st century (see graph), the volume of car production in Poland has been halved in ten years, from 1 000 000 units in 2009 to 500,000 in 2018.

Poland has attracted less automobile manufacturers than the Czech Republic and Slovakia. And no manufacturer has built a new factory in Poland, except Wrzesnia (Volkswagen) which has a limited production capacity.

In addition, Poland underwent the bankruptcy of Daewoo-FSO (a time related to Chevrolet) in 2012 and the transfer of the Fiat Panda from the Tichy site to the Italian plant in Pomigliano (Naples).

The Lancia Ypsilon that arrived at the Tichy site in 2011 did not compensate for the volume lost during the transfer of the Fiat Panda in 2012, and  moreover the Ypsilon production stoppage is scheduled in 2019.

Recent announcements of plant construction in Central Europe, such as Volkswagen in Romania or Bulgaria, Jaguar Land-Rover in Slovakia and BMW in Hungary, show that Poland is no longer attractive in today's European automobile industrial landscape.
