The Brazilian market continues to rise (6.1% in 2012 versus 2011)
- PC (Passenger cars) and LUV (Light Utility Vehicles) sales in Brazil rose by 6.1% in 2012 compared to 2011, to 3.63 million units: 2.85 million PC and 0.78 million LUV. Conversely the trucks and buses sales fell by 19.3% to 0.17 million units.
- Brazil has consequently reached the fourth position in global markets, behind the United States, China and Japan. For the month of December, sales of passenger cars and light utility vehicles rose by 4.4% to 345,000 units, while trucks and buses sales fell by 19% to 15,000 units.
- The Volkswagen Gol was, for the 26th consecutive year, the best-selling car in the Brazilian market last year, with 293,000 units sold.
- The Fiat Strada was the best-selling light utility vehicle last year (117,000 units).
- By brands, Fiat (679,000 sales) is ahead of Volkswagen (651,000 sales), Chevrolet (536,000 sales), Ford (255,000 sales), Renault (181,000 sales) and Honda (120,000 sales).
- For 2013, a market of 3.74 million units for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (up 3 % compared to 2012) is expected, while the market for trucks and buses should remain stable at 0.17 million units.
