Renault, like PSA is having to stop its production in Iran

Renault was forced to interrupt his automobile production in Iran, as PSA had to last year.

The two French manufacturers undergo tougher international sanctions against the Iranian government, which include since only recently the automotive industry . PSA Peugeot-Citroën group had stopped the production in Iran in 2012 for the same reasons.

While the the PSA group had been pressured by its largest private shareholder, the American manufacturer, General Motors, the Renault-Nissan group has been pressured directly from the U.S. government, which would have used  the presence of Nissan on U.S. soil.

Renault, which had produced up to 100,000 vehicles per year (CKD) in Iran in recent years (Dacia Loganmodels slightly modified) will have to write off this production that accounted for 4% of the world production of Renault in 2012 .

PSA produced for its part up to 450,000 vehicles per year (CKD) in Iran in recent years (this activity was started with the Paykan in the late 70s). This production represented up to 13% of world production in best years.
