The French car market approached the level of 1,800,000 PC in 2013
- In 2013 the French car market fell back down to its 1997 level (and 1997 was a very poor year!), with a volume of 1,790,473 passenger cars, representing a decrease of 5.7% against 2012, which had already declined by 12.6 % compared to 2011.
- Since 2009, the French market has lost nearly 500,000 passenger cars, representing a decrease of 20%, which means that the market has lost a fifth of its volume in four years.
- PSA remains the leader in the French market but with a market share (29%) passed in 2013 under 30%. The Renault-Nissan group is second (27%) ahead of the Volkswagen group (14%), GM (5%) and Ford (4%).
- The model most sold in 2013 on the French market was the Renault Clio (120,470 units), ahead of the Peugeot 208 (90,484 units), Renault Scenic (50,968 units), the Citroën C3 (53,376 units) and Renault Megane (43,070 units).
