Production forecast for Europe in 2015 (PC + LUV)
- European automotive production (29 countries) of PC + LUV in 2014 and 2015 will depend mainly on sales volumes reached in this area, slight growth is expected in comparison to the decrease of 2013, the worst performance of the decade after that of 2009.
- Nevertheless, European automotive production is expected to surpass the 18 million vehicle threshold in 2015 (against 17.4 million in 2014 and 16 million in 2013), a figure still far from the 20 million achieved in 2007.
- The increased level of local sales as well as exports (mainly to China and North America) should support European production that remains in overcapacity since 2008, despite the successive manufacturing plant shutdowns made since 2008 and that continue in 2014 (Bochum / Opel and Genk / Ford). However, Russia remains in the dark, inasmuch as European exports to this region are expected to decline significantly in 2014 and 2015.
- The arrival of new generations of models produced in Europe should help offset this handicap. Finally, imported models from outside of Europe should continue to decline.
- Inovev anticipates a production growth of around 4.5% between 2014 and 2015.
