Nissan launches the Sentra on the Russian market

The Nissan Sentra is a C-segment vehicle, the production of the new generation began in 2013 in Mexico in order to supply the North American market (USA, Canada, Mexico). The Japanese manufacturer has announced its launch on the Russian market where the Sentra will replace the former Tiida imported from Mexico.

The new Sentra sold in Russia will be assembled at the Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ plant in Izhevsk, east of Moscow. The plant that once produced Moskvitch and Kia vehicles (2005 to 2011), was bought by the French-Japanese group and since 2012 it produces the Lada Granta and started producing the Renault Logan since 2014. The Nissan Sentra will be the third model of the group to be assembled on the site of IZH.

The beginning of its marketing is scheduled for November 2014. The current Tiida has sold at an average of 10 000 copies per year in Russia. For the Sentra, we can rely on a much larger volume given the progress of the Russian market and the volumes produced by its competitors, such as the Skoda Octavia (with 40 000 units in 2014) and the Toyota Corolla (50 000 units 2014).

The new Sentra is the fifth Nissan vehicle to be assembled in Russia, after the Teana (St Petersburg), X-Trail (St Petersburg), Almera (Togliatti), Terrano (Moscow). The Sentra will be followed by the Qashqai planned for the first half of 2015. Without including the very recent On-Do and Mi-Do that will be sold under the Renault-Nissan Datsun brand.
