Mexican production ranks 7th globally in 2014

With 3,2 million units produced (+ 9,3% compared to 2013), Mexico currently ranks seventh in the world , behind India and ahead of Brazil, while in 2005 it was only twelfth. The production volume of Mexico surpassed that of Canada since 2008 and as a whole represents 9% of the volume of the US market (6% in 2005), while Canadian production represents 11% of the market (10% in 2005 ).

Mexico has gradually become an important drop off zone for the relocations of US manufacturers, before becoming a relocation zone for all other manufacturers wishing to sell both in North America and South America.

Mexico has exported 2 617 477 vehicles in 2014, representing 82% of its production. This country exports to both the United States that still remains its main customer (over 55% of Mexican exports), but also to Europe and South America.

Given current investments, we can already say that Mexican production will further increase over the coming years. Audi, BMW, Mazda, Mercedes, Infiniti and Kia have decided to establish a lasting presence in this market by building new plants. Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover are also considering establishing themselves in Mexico.
