Skoda and Seat will each launch 3 new SUV by 2019

In a constantly increasing European SUV market , the Volkswagen Group was set back against the Renault-Nissan group, leader of the SUV market (across all segments). Although present on several segments with the Audi brand (C, D and E segments), the main brand of the group, VW, has only two SUVs (Tiguan and Touareg). In addition to the announcements for VW and Audi brands, the group has announced its SUV product plan for Skoda and Seat brands.

By 2019 both brands will be marketing, three new SUV each in the fastest growing segments of the European market (B-C-D segments).

For Skoda, the first SUV planned for 2017, would be the replacement of the current Yeti (segment C). The second, scheduled for 2018, would be derived from the Fabia (segment B) and could therefore replace the current Roomster. The third, scheduled for 2019, would be positioned in the D segment and would combine design elements of both an SUV and a coupe, hence the Showman Coupe product name.

For Seat , the first SUV is planned for 2016 and will share the platform of the future Skoda Yeti. This C-segment model (code name: IQNA) will also be produced in the same factory as the Yeti in Kvasiny (Czech Republic). ? The second model (segment B), scheduled in 2017, will share the platform of the future Volkswagen SUV based on the Polo. This model (code name: Eroqa) will be produced in Spain like the SUV based on the Polo. The third, planned for 2018, will be positioned in D-segment. This model (code name: Teqta) should follow the concept Seat 20V20 unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
