Inovev foresees a production volume of 45 000 units for the Alfa-Romeo Giulia

The market for premium D segment sedans increased by 33% between 2009 and 2014 to return to the levels reached in 2008 (1.6 million units), while the global market increased by 28% over this period. In parallel, the SUV market for segment D has also greatly expanded from 2 million units in 2008 to 3 million in 2014 (+ 50%). Europe remains the main market for premium sedans from segment D, with 560 000 sales in 2014 (+ 5% compared to 2013), against 360 000 in the United States (unchanged from 2013) and 330 000 for China (+ 10% compared to 2013).

It is in this segment that Alfa-Romeo launches the Giulia (code 952), which replaces the 159 (2005-2012). It is therefore positioned within the Alfa range above both the Mito (segment B) and the Giulietta (segment C). It primarily tackles the BMW 3 Series.

It is expected to be marketed early 2016. Its production will be concentrated in the Cassino site, alongside the Giulietta. This plant will soon receive the Alfa sedan from segment E (code 961) and the SUV (code 949). The Cassino site is becoming a site dedicated to the production of the Alfa Romeo.

Based on the C-EVO / CUSW rear wheel drive platform (like the Maserati Ghibli) the Giulia is expected to reach from 2016, a production volume of 40 000 to 45 000 units per year according to Inovev. The Group's ambitions are much higher than FCA, because it is aiming for an international success (Europe, USA, China) which will be difficult to achieve.
