- The Mini company bought by BMW in 1994 has grown significantly since the early 2000s. it reached a production peak in 2014, with 312 000 units produced (at three different sites: Cowley in England, Graz in Austria and Born in the Netherlands). This figure will also certainly be surpassed in 2015, indeed, Inovev foresees a production of more than 330 000 units this year. Of the three sites where the Mini is produced, only one belongs to BMW (Cowley). The other two (Graz and Born) are leased from outside companies (Magna Steyr in Austria, Nedcar in the Netherlands).
- In total, Mini currently has a production capacity of 450 000 vehicles per year, including 250 000 in Cowley, 100 000 in Born and 100 000 in Graz. Mini sedans (3/5 doors), Clubman, Convertible, Roadster, Coupé are produced in Cowley and Born, while the Countryman and Paceman were so far assembled in Graz. From 2016, the launch date of the new Countryman, production will no longer be in Graz but in Cowley or in Born or even across both sites. Mini's production capacity will no longer be 450 000 units a year but 350 000, corresponding to the estimated output of Mini (all models) in 2016-2017. But nothing is to prevents BMW from asking Nedcar to increase its production capacity at Born later on, which has already produced more than 200 000 vehicles (Mitsubishi Carisma and Volvo S40 / V40) in the mid 90s .
- To partially compensate for the transfer of its models previously produced in Graz, BMW has decided to make some of its 5 Series in the Graz plant, probably the GT variant, the least sought after vehicle of the 5 Series range.
