Assessment of German production (PC+UV) for the first six months of 2015

In the first half of 2015, production (PC + UV) in Germany reached 3.16 million units, a slight increase (+ 1.1%) compared to the same period last year. The production of passenger vehicles (PC) remained stable at 2.9 million units) and those of commercial vehicles (UV) grew by 10.6% to 240 000 units.

By group, VW production barely increased (+ 0.5%) to 1,38 million units. It is in fact Porsche's progression (+ 38% to 115 000 units) which offset the decline of Audi (-5.4% to 433 000 units) and the stability of VW (0% to 833 000 units). The biggest increase is recorded for Ford (+ 11.5% to 355 000 units) thanks to the arrival of the C-Max. Daimler was slightly down by nearly 2% (to 617 603 units). The strong growth in the production of the Mercedes C-Class (+ 37.6% to 133 000 units) has not yet offset the departure of the Mercedes B-Class to Hungary (120 000 units / year).

BMW rose by almost 10% to 586 000 units thanks to the rise in production of the Active and Gran Tourer minivans, and the 2 Series , while the 3 Series is competing with the Mercedes C-Class and the 5 Series is reaching the end of its life cycle. Finally, the GM group experienced the largest decline (-20.9% to 196 000 units). The new version of the Opel Corsa has not managed to reach previous production levels (-27% to 52 500 units), the Zafira MPV suffers from the general decline in the body (-38.4% to 32 000 units), and the Astra will be replaced shortly (-32% to 25 000 units).

Despite an increase in sales of the European market, production of the Golf was slightly down in the first half (-5.5% to 329 000 units). The VW Passat (+ 19.1% to 190 000 units) and Mercedes C Class reached their cruising pace (+ 37.6% to 133 000 units).
