The Most Produced E Segment SUV in 2016
- The most produced segment E in the world in 2016 is the Toyota Land Cruiser which has totaled 365,000 units. This model launched in 2009 and restyled in 2013 is currently produced in two different countries: Japan (325,000 units) for the Japanese, American and European markets, and China (40,000 units) for the Chinese market. The Land Cruiser is expected to be replaced in 2017. Curiously, this model has difficulty in gaining sales in the USA where the clientele prefers the Highlander.
- In the world production rankings, the Toyota Land Cruiser is ahead of the Toyota Highlander (325,000 units, including 230,000 in the USA and 95,000 in China), the Ford Explorer (323,000 units in the USA alone), the Chevrolet Equinox (278,000 units in Canada only), the Jeep Grand Cherokee (269,000 units in the US alone) and the Lexus RX (240,000 units, including 126,000 units in Japan and 114,000 units in Canada). E-segment SUV global market is of nearly 5 million units in 2016, driven by strong demand in North America. In Europe (29 countries), the most developed segment E SUVs in 2016 are mainly made up of Premium brands , and general carmakers produce very few of these models on this continent.
- The most popular models produced in Europe are Audi Q7 (106,000 units), Volvo XC90 (90,000 units), Porsche Cayenne (77,000 units) and Jaguar F-Pace (67,000 units) which are sold in Europe and exported to the whole world.
