Lincoln unveils the new Navigator SUV
Lincoln (Ford's premium subsidiary) unveiled the new generation of the Navigator, SUV a luxurious version of the Ford Expedition, the biggest SUV in the history of the brand since its inception in 1997.

This model is in its fourth generation (the previous one was in 2007) and it is still based on the platform used by the F-Series pickup that was renewed in 2015. The Navigator also has an aluminum body In white. This large SUV is traditionally the direct competitor of the Cadillac Escalade which is based on the platform used by the Silverado pickup.

The Lincoln Navigator, like the Ford Expedition, is manufactured at the Louisville (Kentuckysite since 2009. It was previously manufactured at the Wayne (Michigan) site.

The new generation Lincoln Navigator succeeds a model that had reached nearly 12,000 sales in 2016 (against 15,000 in 2015). The sales figures achieved by the previous generation (2008-2017) are however quite different from those recorded before 2008 (26 000 units in 2007 and even 30 000 units in 2005) but Inovev thinks that 20 000 sales could be reached again in 2018, with a US market expected to maintain or grow slightly depending on the scenarios.

The Lincoln Navigator will, as in the past, be marketed only in North America.
