Peugeot pick-up sold in Africa is a derivative of a Dongfeng pick-up
The PSA group has moved the commercialization of its new pick-up in the Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa one year forward. It will be marketed as of autumn 2017 from assembly on the new Tunisian site of Stafim. This site will be able to assemble up to 1,200 vehicles per year, six per day.

The model selected is a Peugeot rebadged Dongfeng brand pickup. Dongfeng is a partner of Peugeot in China through a JV and has become one of the main shareholders of the French manufacturer.

The Dongfeng pickup, christened Rich on the Chinese market, is derived from a former Nissan Navara D22 pickup from the 1997-2005 generation. This model is equipped with a Nissan 2.5-liter diesel engine, developing 115hp and it is this same engine that will equip the new pickups that Peugeot has marketed as of 2017.

- The rebadging operation of a Chinese model from a former generation of the Nissan Navara is therefore a low cost operation, ie  in order to be the least expensive possible. In terms of image however, the operation is not especially pertinent, and it is perhaps for this reason that this model will not be exported to Europe, nor indeed to other continents.

- This Peugeot pickup will have the heavy task of succeeding the historic 203, 403, 404 and 504, pick-ups, the last of which was sold in 2005 in Nigeria. Pick-ups represent almost 10% of the African market.
