Top passenger car sales in Europe over the first 9 months of 2017
The European market grew by 3.6% over the first 9 months of 2017 compared to the first 9 months of 2016. The manufacturers that have progressed  the most during this period are Suzuki (+ 22%, thanks to Ignis) and Toyota (+ 13.5%, thanks to the CHR), Fiat-Chrysler (+ 8%, thanks to Alfa Giulia and Stelvio), Geely-Volvo (+ 7%, thanks to XC60), Daimler (+ 6.6%) , Renault-Nissan (+ 6%) and Hyundai-Kia (+ 5.4%). Other manufacturers have experienced very little progress or even stagnation.

Looking at the top 20 models, we see that those which have progressed the most are the very recent Citroen C3 and Volkswagen Tiguan. We must also note the very good performance of the Peugeot 3008 and Fiat Tipo whose sales have multiplied by 2.5, bringing them very close to the top 20.

The models whose sales fell the most are the Ford Fiesta and Opel Corsa. The Ford Fiesta has been renewed in 2017.

Among the top 20 (the 20 best-selling models) which make up 30% of the European market, VW Golf remains the market leader (395,000 sales), while losing 34,000 sales compared to last year. It is ahead of the Renault Clio (232,000 sales) gaining 15,000 sales, the VW Polo (221,000 sales) losing 9,000 sales, the Ford Fiesta (188,000 sales) losing 34,000 sales, the Nissan Qashqai (183,000 sales) gaining 15,000 sales, the Opel Corsa (181,000 sales) losing 20,000 sales and the Peugeot 208 (178,000 sales) losing 10,000 sales.
