Ford Group Global Market 2017
- The Ford Group (Ford, Lincoln) has released its sales figures for the year 2017. Global sales amounted to 6.6 million vehicles, a decrease of 1.5% compared to 2016, which allowed Ford to get closer to the Hyundai-Kia group (where sales fell by 8%) without any particular effort. Ford sales could have increased slightly if the transition between old and new Fiesta had gone better and if the British market had not fallen (the Ford brand is by far the leader in this market), as the first consequence of Brexit.
- Ford Group global sales in 2017 break down as follows:
1. The United States is its largest market, with 2.58 million vehicles, or 39% of its worldwide sales.
2. Europe is its second largest market, with 1.35 million vehicles, or 20% of its worldwide sales.
3. China is its third market, with 840,000 vehicles, or 13% of its worldwide sales.
4. South America is its fourth largest market, with 370,000 vehicles, or 6% of its worldwide sales.
- These four markets represent 78% of Ford's global sales in 2017, divided into 6.42 million Ford vehicles and 0.18 million Lincoln vehicles. The group's best-selling models in 2017 are the Ford F-Series pickups (1,070,000 units), Ford Focus (635,000 units) and Ford Kuga / Escape (630,000 units).
