Peugeot unveils its new D segment 508 sedan
Peugeot presents the new generation of its D segment sedan, the 508, which competes with the BMW 3 Series (2012), Mercedes C Class (2014), Audi A4 (2016), VW Passat (2014) or Skoda Superb ( 2015).

While the Citroën C5 was discontinued in 2017 and the DS 5 is in its final months of commercialization, the Peugeot 508 will become the only PSA D segment sedan - along with the GM designed Opel Insignia -, as of  September 2018.

Compared to the Insignia, the new 508 is 15cm shorter and 6cm lower. Compared to the old 508, it is 8cm shorter (at 4.75m), 6cm lower (at 1.40m) and 70kg lighter.

The new 508 is based on the EMP2 platform shared by the Peugeot 308, 3008, 5008 as well as the Citroën C4 Picasso and C5 Aircross. The Peugeot Partner, Expert and Citroën Berlingo, and Jumpy vans also share this platform, as well as the new Opel Combo, which is the second model of the Opel brand to benefit from it (after the Grandland).

- 508 engines will be as follows :  a 1600 PureTech 180hp and 225hp petrol, a BlueHDI 1500hp 130hp diesel, and  a 2000hp BlueHDI diesel of 160hp and 180hp. A rechargeable hybrid petrol version is scheduled for the end of 2019. Peugeot announces a sales target of 80,000 to 90,000 in Europe (manufactured in Mulhouse), of which 20% is gasoline and 20% is hybrid, plus 40,000 in China (manufactured in Wuhan).
