Inovev forecasts 50,000 to 75,000 units per year of the new electric Renault Megane
The Renault group unveiled at the 2021 Munich Motor Show the new Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric which is the third battery electric vehicle (BEV) of the Renault brand (excluding light utility vehicles), placed in the carmaker's product line above the electric Twingo (A-segment) and Zoe (B-segment). The Mégane E-Tech Electric is expected to complete the carmaker’s offering in the C-segment, alongside the thermal Méganeand Kadjar. The new model is an hybrid when it comes to styling, mixing the codes of the sedan with those of the SUV. It launches the new CMF-EV platform which will be used by most of the Renault and Alpine electric cars planned for the next three years. The model (4.21 m long, 1.78 m wide and 1.50 m high) competes directly with the Volkswagen ID3 which is the electric alternative to the Golf in the C-segment market.

The engine of the Mégane E-Tech Electric is available in two powers: 96 kW (130 hp) and 160 kW (218 hp) against 107 kW (145 hp), 110 kW (110 hp) and 150 kW (204 hp) for the Volkswagen ID3. The battery has a capacity of 40 kWh (300 km of range) or 60 kWh (450 km of range) against 45 kWh (350 km of range), 58 kWh (425 km of range) or 77 kWh (544 km of autonomy) on the Volkswagen ID3 depending on the version.

The Mégane E-Tech Electric will be assembled, beginning 2022, exclusively at the Douai (France) plant at 50,000 units per year at the start of its career, then 75,000 units per year in the middle of its career. Production will begin in early 2022. Renault has decided to practice an aggressive pricing policy (for this market) as the new model will be available from 36,000 euros, while a Zoe is priced from 32,500 euros to 34,800 euros depending on the version. A Volkswagen ID3 is priced from 34,750 euros to 43,700 euros depending on the version.
