The future Citroën C5 Aircross will be available in a battery electric version
- The Stellantis group has announced that the next generation of the Citroën C5 Aircross SUV (code CR3) will be launched in 2025 and will be based on the STLA Medium platform, which will be also use by the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 (launch in 2023). The new C5 Aircross will be assembled at the Rennes plant, like the current generation, and will be available for the first time in a battery electric version in addition to the mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
- As for the plants of Vigo, Zaragoza, Villaverde, Trnava, Poissy, Mirafiori, Valenciennes, Ellesmere Port, Val di Sangro, the Rennes plant will therefore become a factory producing electric vehicles in addition to thermal vehicles. To complete this list, we can also add the Sochaux plant which will assemble the electric versions of the future Peugeot 3008 and 5008 from 2023, the Mulhouse plant which will produce the electric versions of the Peugeot 308 from 2023 and DS7 Crossback from 2025, the Rüsselsheim plant which will produce the electric versions of the Opel Astra and DS4 from 2023. We must add the future Peugeot 4008 (code P54) which will be assembled in Mulhouse from 2022, in an hybrid and electric version.
- The choice of the production site for the future Opel Grandland has not yet been taken. This new generation could be produced either in Eisenach (Germany), including the battery electric version, or in Sochaux (France) alongside the future 3008 and 5008. This strategy confirms that the Stellantis group wants to continue to spread its production of electric vehicles on all the sites where the thermal versions of these vehicles are also produced.
