Inovev forecasts 10,000 units per year for the new Lancia Gamma
- Lancia, now back under Fiat's umbrella, has just unveiled its new D-segment model, the Gamma SUV , which revives the name of a classic Lancia hatchback (fastback rear) sold between 1975 and 1984. This hatchback style is, in fact, the only point of similarity between the old and new Gamma models. Indeed, the new Gamma adopts the fastback SUV styling of the Peugeot 3008 and DS N°7, including the STLA Medium platform and the 1.2-liter mild-hybrid and all-electric powertrains, albeit on a slightly longer chassis.
- Three all-electric versions are available from launch : The first version, with 230 hp (169 kW) and a 74 kWh battery, will offer a WLTP range of 540 km. As with the DS N°7 and N°8, a Long Range version with 245 hp (180 kW) and a 97 kWh battery will also provide a WLTP range of 740 km. Finally, the all-wheel-drive version will offer 375 hp (276 kW), 25 hp (18 kW) more than the DS N°7 and N°8, for a WLTP range of 675 km. However, the Lancia SUV will not include any plug-in hybrid or internal combustion engine options in its lineup.
- The Lancia Gamma SUV, measuring 4.67 m long, is 13 cm longer than the Peugeot 3008 but has the same dimensions as a DS N°7 or an Opel Grandland. However, it is 12 cm shorter than a Peugeot 5008 and 13 cm shorter than a DS N°8.
- The Lancia Gamma SUV will be produced at the Melfi site, alongside the DS N°7 and N°8. It will have the heavy task of reviving the Lancia brand, which has fallen to 10,000 units sold in 2025 (compared to more than 100,000 in 2011), due to the blatant commercial failure of the new Lancia Ypsilon, but Inovev is only counting on 10,000 sales per year of the new Gamma SUV.
