Inovev forecasts production of 150,000 Toyota Auris per year
Toyota introduced the new Auris generation at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This C-segment sedan, which is essentially sold as a hybrid (this engine now accounts for half of the sales, the other half being made up of gasoline and diesel engines) will be produced in England, on the Toyota Burnaston  site, as was the previous generation.

The new Auris is based on the new global TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. The new model competes with C-segment general-purpose sedans, such as VW Golf, Ford Focus, Opel Astra, Renault Megane, Peugeot 308, Fiat Tipo, Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Hyundai i30 and Kia Ceed, albeit with the advantage of hybrid motorization.

The new generation of the Auris is 4cm longer than the previous one (it now reaches 4.32m) and above all it will no longer be available in diesel version (this engine was previously supplied by BMW), Toyota  is anticipating the sharp decline in influence of diesel on all European markets. The manufacturer believes that the former purchasers of diesel versions will now move to hybrid versions.

Two hybrid engines are also proposed: a 1.8 of 136 hp and a 2.0 of 177hp. From then on, the big Toyota Avensis with its less powerful engines seems doomed. It will probably not be replaced.

Inovev forecasts production of 150,000 Auris per year in Burnaston, of which 100,000 hybrids.
