Inovev plans 25,000 units per year of the new Polestar 3 SUV
- The Polestar brand, which is part of the Chinese group Geely, like Volvo or Lotus, was initially a sports subsidiary of the Swedish brand Volvo, like AMG for Mercedes or Alpina for BMW.
- In 2017, Volvo announces that Polestar will become a brand in its own right, specializing in high-performance plug-in hybrid and 100% electric vehicles, the models of which will be manufactured in China at Geely.
- The first Polestar model meeting these new specifications was presented in October 2017, it is the Polestar 1, a high-performance plug-in hybrid coupe based on the SPA platform which is aesthetically inspired by the old Volvo P1800 coupe. from the 1960s. Its production began in 2019 at the Chinese site in Chengdu.
- The second Polestar model meeting the new specifications is presented in January 2019. It is the Polestar 2, a 100% electric sedan which shares its platform with the Polestar 1 and is produced on the same production site.
- The third Polestar model, logically called Polestar 3, is a 100% electric SUV which was just presented in June 2022 and whose production should start in the fall of 2022, both in China and in the United States on the site Volvo of Charleston.
- It should be noted that Polestars are not marketed in France by court order, following a complaint from Citroën which considers that the brand's logo is too close to its own. Inovev is counting on 25,000 annual sales of the Polestar 3 and then 50,000 eventually, a quantity comparable to the brand's production expected in 2022.

Inovev plans 100,000 units per year of the new Smart SUV
- The Geely Group presented the first Smart produced in China. It is an SUV with dimensions close to a Mini Countryman (length: 4.27 m). It is therefore no longer a question of small city cars of segment A whose length did not exceed 2.70 m for the Fortwo or 3.50 m for the Forfour. The new Smart, which is 100% electric like the latest Fortwo and Forfour, weighs 1,820 kilos, and no longer 1,100 kilos like the old models. The new Smart therefore abandons the A segment, which is not profitable enough to now be in the B segment. It is designed on a Geely (SEA) platform and no longer on a Renault (Edison) platform which was used on the Twingo launched in 2014 This new model will no longer be manufactured in Europe (Hambach in France and Novo Mesto in Slovenia) like the old Smart models, but in China at Geely, following recent agreements between Mercedes and Geely.
- The new Smart is equipped with a 268 hp electric motor and a battery with a capacity of 66 kWh which allows a range of 450 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. It will be available later in a less powerful version, less than 200 hp.
- While production of the Smart in Europe has never exceeded 150,000 units per year, and the decision to remove the thermal versions in 2020 had brutally reduced the brand's sales by 70%, the production of the new Smart could to reach 100,000 units per year, despite its electric motorization and its more upscale positioning, and therefore despite a higher price than that of the Fortwo and Forfour. The new Smart is indeed targeting a larger market, both in Europe and China, with B-segment cars being more in demand than A-segment ones.

Review of automobile production in 2021 in Iran
- 詳細
Review of automobile production in 2021 in Iran
- Iran's automobile production volume evolves according to the harshness of the economic sanctions imposed by Western countries (mainly the USA) on Iran. Automobile production thus suffers the repercussions of the economic sanctions, even if the population is the most affected by these sanctions.
- While automobile production peaked at 1.6 million vehicles in 2010 and 2011, it collapsed to 1.0 million units in 2012 and 0.65 million in 2013. It rose to 1.0 million in 2014 then 1.45 million in 2017 and collapsed again when the new Trump administration was installed in the United States and increased the harshness of sanctions vis-à-vis Iran. Iranian car production then fell to 0.75 million units in 2019 and 0.7 million in 2020. After Trump's departure, Iranian car production rose to 0.95 million units in 2021 (sanctions imposed to Iran lightened?). At the current rate, it will exceed 1.1 million units in 2022.
- The Iranian manufacturers Iran Khodro and SAIPA represent 59% of the country's automobile production in 2021, to which must be added the 31% represented by the production of Peugeot models made by Iran Khodro which are not counted at Stellantis.
- Chinese manufacturers represent only 10% of Iranian production.
- Currently, Iran Khodro (IKCO) manufactures 4 models and SAIPA 5 models whose photos are on the following page. These nine models represent nearly 60% of the Iranian market in 2021.

Inovev plans 60,000 units per year of the new Range Sport
- Land Rover presented the new generation of its Range Sport SUV (this is the third generation) which fits between the Range Velar (4.80 m) and the Range Rover (5.05 m) since it measures 4.95m.
- This large SUV falls into the category of large Premium brand SUVs, such as the BMW X5 and X6, the Mercedes GLE and GLE coupé, the Audi Q7 and Q8, as well as the Volvo XC90. Its prices vary from 100,000 to 150,000 euros depending on the version. Its distribution will therefore remain modest, although higher than that of the classic Range Rover or that of the Range Velar. Its production volume fell to 50,000 units in 2021 due to strong competition, while it exceeded 80,000 units between 2014 and 2017.
- Inovev foresees a production volume of 60,000 units per year over the next few years (at the historic Solihull site in UK), taking into account that this model will be available in two years in a 100% electric version.
- For now, the Range Sport based on the MLA-Flex platform that appeared on the Range Rover in 2021 will be offered with the following engines: a six-cylinder petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV) of 440 hp or 510 hp, a six-cylinder petrol micro -hybrid (MHEV-Mild) of 360 hp or 400 hp, plus a twin-turbo petrol V8 of 530 hp without forgetting the old six-cylinder 3-litre diesel of 250 hp or 350 hp micro-hybrid (MHEV-Mild) which could have be removed in view of the current trend. But this engine still representing half of the model's sales, the manufacturer finally decided to keep it.
- The Range Sport has accounted for around 20% of Land Rover sales each year since 2012.

The best-selling SUVs in Europe in 2021

The best-selling SUVs in Europe in 2021
- SUVs accounted for 44.7% of passenger car registrations in Europe (29 countries) in 2021, setting a new market share record (it was 40.1% in 2020). SUVs continue to bite into the sedan market and have ended up wiping out the minivan market which resembles them in many ways (Citroën has just ceased production of its C4 Space Tourer, while the Renault Scénic and Volkswagen Touran will soon be deleted).
- The ten best-selling SUVs in Europe in 2021 were the Peugeot 2008 (B segment) with 188,000 sales (+25.5%), Volkswagen T-Roc (C segment) with 173,000 sales (+16.7%) , Renault Captur (segment B) with 151,000 sales (-10.3%), Volkswagen Tiguan (segment C) with 150,000 sales (-7.3%), Peugeot 3008 (segment C) with 136,000 sales (+13 .2%), Hyundai Tucson (segment C) with 131,000 sales (+68.5%), Ford Puma (segment B) with 124,000 sales (+11.5%), Volkswagen T-Cross (segment B) with 118,000 sales (+10.0%), Dacia Duster (C segment) with 117,000 sales (+4.9%) and Volvo XC40 (C segment) with 115,000 sales (+12.0%).
- We observe that B and C segment SUVs are the most in demand, with D segment SUVs only coming in 16th and 20th position for the best-selling of them (Toyota RAV4 and BMW X3). Of all SUVs sold in Europe in 2021, 45% were C-segment, 35% were B-segment, 14% were D-segment, 5% were E-segment and 1% were F-segment.
- By nationality, German brand SUVs are the most sold (37% of the total), ahead of French brand SUVs (15%), Japanese brand SUVs (14%) and Korean brand SUVs (11%).
