Lamborghini plans production of 3,500 Urus / year
- Lamborghini (subsidiary of the Volkswagen group) unveiled its new SUV called Urus, which expands its range and immediately places this SUV at the top of the Premium category, as the Urus has no competitor at the moment. The Maserati Levante, BMW X6, and Porsche Cayenne are at a lower level, in terms of price, and of engine power in particular. That of Lamborghini reaches 650hp, against 430hp for Levante, 450hp for X6 or 570hh for Cayenne Turbo S. The Bentley Bentayga V12 develops 600hp but it is another category, that of luxury SUVs. We will have to wait for the future SUVs of Ferrari, Aston-Martin and Bugatti for the Lamborghini Urus to really compete. At present, the Lamborghini Urus is the fastest SUV in the world.
- The Lamborghini Urus adopts the MLB Evo platform used by the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga and Audi Q7. The engine is a 650hp V8 4.0 placed at the front, which is a novelty for the brand, accustomed to engines located behind the cockpit. The vehicle is all-wheel drive, for a better grip on the road, especially at high speeds. It will be available in 2019 in a V6 3.0 plug-in hybrid version (technology borrowed from the Porsche Panamera Plug-In).
- Lamborghini plans to double its worldwide sales thanks to Urus, which should reach 7,000 annual units in 2019 against 3,500 in 2016. The Urus will be manufactured in the Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese.
