Peugeot 508
- Peugeot presents the new generation of its 508, in the highly competitive D segment sedan market. Suffering from not only the competition of German premium sedans but also the growth of SUV, Peugeot has chosen for its 508 sedan to attack a niche market, the Audi A5 Sportback and VW Arteon.
- The new 508 is based on the EMP2 platform and announces a drop of 70 kg compared to the older generation.
- The engines will be the following: a 1600 petrol PureTech of 180hp and 225hp, a 1500 diesel BlueHDI of 130hp, a 2000 diesel BlueHDI of 160hp and 180hp. A rechargeable hybrid petrol version is scheduled for the end of 2019.
- The model will be marketed in Europe from September 2018.
- Peugeot announces a sales target of 80,000 units in Europe (production in Mulhouse), plus 40,000 units in China (production in Wuhan). Inovev expects 70,000 units in Europe.
Citroën Berlingo/Peugeot Rifter (& Opel Combo)
- The PSA group presents the new generation of Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Partner vans as well as that of the Opel Combo ( which will no longer be built on the Fiat Doblobase ).
- The new models - including the Combo - are built on the same PSA EMP2 platform and share many body parts, but their front ends are specific.
- They all have the same engines (1200 gasoline 110hp and 130hp, 1500 diesel 75hp, 100hp and 130hp).
- They will be produced in the same European plants (Vigo in Spain and Mangualdein Portugal).
- The three new models will be available from September 2018 and an electric version will be added in 2019.
