The Alfa-Romeo Mito will not be replaced
- The FCA group has announced that the Alfa-Romeo Mito (segment B sedan) will not be replaced. The manufacturer states that sales of this model did not match its objectives. In addition, according to FCA , this model no longer corresponds to the new positioning of the brand that intends to compete with BMW and Mercedes. Admittedly, these two German premium manufacturers do not offer a B-segment sedan under their own logo, but Audi (another German premium manufacturer) markets it a B segment sedan under its own logo: the Audi A1.
- Alfa-Romeo will concentrate on the Giulietta (C-segment sedan), the Giulia (D-segment sedan), the Stelvio (D-segment SUV) and the future C-segment and E-segment SUVs, as well as the Alfetta sedan (E segment sedan).
- The Alfa-Romeo Mito production should stop during the summer of 2018, which will further reduce the low rate of use of the Mirafiori site that manufactured this model.
- However, the FCA Group has confirmed that the future E-segment SUV marketed under the Alfa-Romeo brand and based on the Maserati Levante SUV will be manufactured on the Mirafiori site (alongside the Maserati Levante), which will prevent its closure. This site will therefore only produce SUVs from 2019. As for the Fiat Punto, which shares its platform with the Alfa-Romeo Mito and whose production continues at low speeds in Melfi, it should not survive very long after the stop of the Mito.
