The Russian market (PC + LUV) fell by 2.3% in 2019
The Russian automotive market (PC + LUV) declined by 2.3% in 2019, with a volume of 1.76 million units, after two years of growth (1.6 million in 2017 and 1.8 million in 2018 ). The market rebound was therefore abruptly interrupted in 2019, and forecasts for a market of two million units could not be realized.

According to the Russian Dealers Association (RAD), sales of new cars in Russia could decline further in 2020 by 8%, while the second-hand market should remain stable at 5.4 million units. For its part, the AEB organization forecasts a decrease of 2%. Inovev expects a 3.5% drop in 2020 to 1.7 million units.

In this context, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group (owner of the Russian Autovaz) remains by far the leading carmaker in Russia, with a market share of 36% (including 20.5% for the Lada brand, 8.2% for the Renault brand and 5% for the Nissan brand), ahead of the Hyundai-Kia group (23%), the Volkswagen group (12.5%) and the Toyota group (7.2%).

Note that Ford is no longer present on the Russian market since December 31, 2019, following the path of GM group which withdrew from this market in 2016.
