2023 Munich Motor Show - Chinese carmakers may present their Premium models
The Dongfeng carmaker, which should be present at the Munich show, could reveal its know-how in the design of Premium cars, in a country which represents the largest market for Premium vehicles in Europe, with brands such as Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Porsche.

Chinese carmakers have developed electric motorization on a large scale with the support of the Chinese government and have even managed to offer competitive electric cars against foreign brands due to unbeatable prices. At the same time, the design of Chinese cars has made great progress, sometimes surpassing the foreign brands. We can call on foreign designers who have more freedom to create new models, because Chinese carmakers are less timid. The next step was to create premium cars capable of competing with those of foreign brands, often through new brands dedicated to this type of model.

This is what Japanese carmakers had done in other times, creating Lexus (Toyota), Infiniti (Nissan) and Acura (Honda). This is what the Korean Hyundai-Kia did more recently by creating the Genesis brand.

However, Chinese carmakers are making a difference by adding electric motors to their Premium models, thus confirming their technological lead. Dongfeng's Premium brand is called Voyah and it could unveil its large battery electric sedan, the I-Land at the Munich show, whose design is signed by Ital Design. Xpeng could unveil its limousine called P7, Changan its Avatr 11 SUV, Leapmotor its C11 SUV.
