In 2014 GM will transfer the Opel Mokka from Korea to Spain
- The Opel Mokka is currently manufactured in South Korea by GM Korea (formerly Daewoo), where it is exported to Europe. The model has a measure of success in Europe (it has been sold at 33,000 units in the first six months of 2013, probably 70 000 to 80 000 units over the entire year).
- On the other hand, the Opel plants in Europe operate on average at less than 60% of their capacity, currently one of the lowest rates on the continent.
- GM has decided to repatriate part of Opel's production of the Mokka to Spain, at its plant in Zaragoza, both to meet the demands of the European market while increasing the rate of use of its Spanish plant.
- Opel had already indicated a desire to produce this compact recreational vehicles in Europe, but the site has not yet been chosen.
- The Zaragoza plant currently produces the Corsa and Meriva. It will produce from the second half of 2014 between 70,000 and 80,000 Mokkas per year, in addition to the Corsa and Meriva will continue to be made on this site. With this relocation, the Zaragoza plant usage rate will increase from 60% in 2013 to 70% in 2014 (producing the Mokka over 6 months) and 80% in 2015 (producing the Mokka over 12 months).
