- Segment B SUVs are increasing in Europe. Surfing on the trend of segments C, D and E SUVs . This bodywork has become more wide spread in vehicles of smaller dimensions. At the same time, the pioneer of compact SUVs - the Toyota RAV4 - grew from generation to generation, leaving the C segment to focus on segment D.
- Over 215 000 SUVs from segment B were sold in Europe (excluding Russia and Turkey) in the first nine months of 2013. Their market share is now close to 2.5% in Europe.
- Seven models represent the bulk of sales: Nissan Juke, Opel Mokka, Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008 Suzuki SX4, Chevrolet Trax, Fiat Sedici.
- This segment was born in the 2000s with the launch of the twins : Suzuki SX4 and Fiat Sedici, but mainly took off in 2010 with the launch of the Nissan Juke . In 2012, the launch of two other twins: Opel Mokka and Chevrolet Trax consolidated the segment. Finally in 2013, the arrival of the French with the Peugeot 2008 Renault Captur will complete the segment.
- Curiously, the Volkswagen Group and Ford have not yet invested in this growing segment, but both manufacturers have announced the arrival of Taigun and Ecosport in Europe over the coming months. As for Fiat, in 2014 it will launch its small SUV derived from the Fiat 500, probably called 500X (to succeed to the Sedici).
