Features of the European top 10 PC and LCV market in 2013

The European top 10 of PCs in 2013 saw few changes compared to 2012. They represented 20.8% (2 560 000 PC) of the total market. Concerning of the LCV market, the 10 best-selling vehicles represented them 30.3% (434 000 LCV market).

One can also note that the cumulative Top 10 PC registrations were virtually unchanged compared to 2012 while for LCV  the sales of the TOP 10 lost nearly 21 000 units (-5%) compared to 2012. This means that in a virtually stagnant LCV market the 10 most sold LCV are less powerful that in 2012. This is in fact the consequence of the arrival of the new Mercedes Compact LCV, the Citan.

Despite the surge in SUV segments, the top 10 are heavily dominated by the sedan B segment (46% of the TOP 10) and C segment (38%). Only the Fiat 500 and the BMW 3 Series represent vehicles from segment A and D. The Nissan Qashqai has reached the end of life cycle and is no longer part of the TOP 10 in 2013, likewise, the sedans : VW Passat (segment D) and Opel Astra (segment C) aren't in the top 10 anymore. As regards to LCVs, the Top 10 is dominated by the compact car segment (Berlingo, Caddy ...) with 60% of the TOP 10 and 40% for middleweight LCVs (Transporter, Transit ...). It should be noted that "small" LCVs (Nemo, Beeper ...) are not part of the TOP 10.
