Study of PC segmentation in the six main European markets
- Inovev has analysed the passenger cars segmentation of the first six European markets (Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain and Belgium). It shows that in 2014 B and C segments were the leading segments (72% over all 6 markets).
- When you combine A + B segments (small cars) and C + D (medium car), we get the following result: France obtained the most homogeneous distribution over all segments (53% for A + B and 45% for C + D), while Germany has the largest differential (29% A + B and 60% C + D). The United Kingdom (43% for A + B and 50% C + D), Spain (39% for A + B and 58% C + D), Italy (62% A + B 35% C + D) and Belgium (37% A + B and 56% C + D) are in between the distribution of France and Germany.
- Italy is the market which buys the most smaller models, while Germany is the country that buys mainly large models.
- Where are the segments A, B, C, D, E are the most represented? Segment A reaches its highest level in Italy (success of the Fiat Panda and 500), the B segment in France (success of Renault with the Captur and Clio and Peugeot with the 208 and 2008), the C segment in Spain (success of the Seat Leon), and finally the segments D, E and F are the most represented in Germany (success of the VW Passat, BMW 3/4/5/6/7, Audi A4 / A5 / A6 / A7 / A8 , Mercedes C / E / S).
