- The Nissan Qashqai is the best selling SUV of the C segment in Europe in 2014, This was also the case in 2013. This model has been the leading model on this segment since 2008, i.e. one year after its launch. Previously this place belonged to the Toyota RAV4. - C segment SUVs have been leading the SUV category for almost 20 years now, before this time the most popular SUVs were from segment D. Since the launch of the Nissan Juke back in 2010, B segment SUVs have become increasingly popular with the launch for instance of the Opel Mokka, Renault Captur and Peugeot 2008. Nevertheless C segment SUVs are still the market leaders of this category in Europe accounting for 1.3 million units out the total 2.5 million units represented by SUVs across all segments. As a whole SUVs in Europe account for 20% market share of vehicles sold in this market in 2014, against 17% back in 2013.
- The main competitors of the Nissan Qashqai (15% of C segment SUVs) are the Volkswagen Tiguan (11%), Dacia Duster (8,5%), Hyundai Ix35 (6,5%), Kia Sportage (6,5%), Ford Kuga (6%), Peugeot 3008 (5,5%), Audi Q3 (5,5%) et BMW X1 (4,5%). 2015 is forecasted to be tougher for the Qashqai with the launch of the Renault Kadjar.
