Jaguar introduces the next gen XF

In 2014 more than 880 000 sedans of segment E were produced in Europe (-6% compared to 2013). BMW produced 223 000 -5 Series, Mercedes produced 216 000 E Class, Audi produced 123 000 A6, Volvo produced 108 000 -S80 / V70 / XC70. Jaguar produced 45 000 XF. Half of its vehicles were destined for export outside Europe (mainly USA and China).

Jaguar has unveiled the second generation of the XF. This sedan has been produced at 268 000 units between January 2008 and December 2014, an average of 38 000 units per year, while Jaguar's target was 50 000 per year.

The new generation introduced today, which will be marketed from the second half of 2015 will have to meet the same goals set at 50 000 units per year. Achievable goals since the model could benefit from the growth of the US and Chinese markets which will increase sales.

The XF no longer represents the entry level Jaguar, since a new model has been added to the range, the Jaguar XE (segment D), production of which has just started in Solihull and whose goals are 100 000 units year.

The new Jaguar XF will be built at the plant in Castle Bromwich, alongside the XJ, it is announced to be 190 kg lighter than the previous model. It will have Ingeniumengines including a 2.0 diesel 163 hp, a 2.0 petrol 200/240 hp and a 3.0 V6 petrol 380 hp. An estate version might be added shortly like on the previous generation.
