Assessment of UK sales (PC+UV) for the first six months of 2015
- In the first half of 2015, the British market (PC+UV) grew by 8.1% to 1.55 million units. As for Germany, France and Europe in general, sales of commercial vehicles have progressed well (+ 20% reaching 182 400 units), and that of passenger cars grew by 6.7% (1.38 million units).
- By segment, solid growth is recorded for segment D (+ 24.5% reaching 205 000 units). Only segments A (-3.3% decreasing to 125 700 units) and E (-1.8% decreasing to 78 800 units) are down. By body, like other European countries, sales of SUV are still progressing (+ 24.9% reaching 325 300 units) at the expense of the MPV category (-25.8% decreasing to 80 500 units).
- By brand, Ford, is the leading brand in the country and increased by 6.2% to almost 224 000 units. The brand benefited from the growth of the Kuga SUV (+44.8% reaching 16 600 units) and the launch of the Ecosport (4 100 units). Furthermore, the Transit Custom also rose sharply (+25.2% to 36 000 units), making it the fifth best-selling vehicle in the United Kingdom, regardless as to whether they are PC or UV , this is something quite unusual in a mature market. Overall, all brands grew, apart from Honda (-7.6% decreasing to 27 600 units), Suzuki (-10.3% decreasing to 17 700 units) and DS (-26.3% reaching less than 10 000 units). These three brands are awaiting new developments that are expected to arrive in the second half of the year or early 2016.
- By model, sales of the Ford Fiesta were almost stable (-1% decreasing to 71 200 units), while the new version of the Opel / Vauxhall Corsa increased by 19% to nearly 52 000 units.
