Assessment of Sales in Italy (PC+LUV) for the first 6 months of 2015
- The Italian automotive market (PC + LUV) increased by 14.9% in first half of 2015 compared to the same period last year. It exceeded 927 000 units (against 807 000 the previous year).
- All market segments are growing. The highest increases are to be attributed to the B segment (+ 19.9% to 411 000 units) and D-segment (+ 20.7% to 61 000 units), which is however not represented inside the Fiat range. In terms of bodies, following the European trend, the SUV category was up sharply (+ 39.7% to 210 000 units) while the MPV category saw a decrease of 6.9% (to 85 000 units).
- By brand, Fiat, the traditional leader of the Italian market, rose by 11.4% (204 000 units), far ahead of Volkswagen (+ 8.3% to 69 000 units), Ford (+ 20.2% to 66 000 units), Renault (+ 21.5% to 59 thousand units), Peugeot (+14.9 to 52 000 units) and Opel (+ 16.7% to 51 000 units). The FCA Group alone holds 29% of the Italian market, but that market share was still much larger ten or fifteen years.
- By model, the top five models sold are FCA Group models with the Fiat Panda (up 20% to 67 000 units), Fiat 500L (stable at 33 000 units), LanciaYpsilon (+ 14.5% to 32 000 units), Fiat Punto (+ 1.8% to 31 000 units) and Fiat 500 (-3.4% to 28 000 units). Fiat 500 and Fiat 500L are suffering from the direct competition of the new Fiat 500X (14 000 units).
