PSA will transfer the vehicle replacing the 2008 Peugeot from Mulhouse to Zaragoza

The new generation of the Peugeot 2008 (B SUV segment) is expected to be commercialized in 2019, as the current generation dates back to 2013 and its mid-life restyling to 2016.

Following the agreements between GM and PSA, this future model will no longer be manufactured in France (on the PSA site in Mulhouse) but in Spain (on the GM site in Zaragoza). It is therefore a volume of nearly 200,000 cars per year that will lose the automobile industry located in France, following this transfer, which adds to the volume of nearly 150,000 cars per year that it will lose from 2017, following the transfer of the Citroën C3 to Slovakia (on the PSA site in Trnava). There will also be to add a volume of almost 100,000 cars per year due to the transfer to Slovakia of the last Peugeot 208 still manufactured in France.

The PSA group therefore continues to relocate part of its production from France to the other European countries with lower wages.
How
can PSA proceed if it wants to keep a volume of one million vehicles manufactured in France each year between 2017 and 2020?
Inovev sees two options:
1 / The increase in SUV production in France (3008, 5008, C4 Aircross, SUV Opel) = 100,000 units.
2 / The arrival of future DS models that could all be manufactured in France = 150 000 units.

The balance would therefore be as follows: 450 000 vehicles lost in France and 250 000 vehicles gained in France, which could not enable to reach the one million of PSA vehicles announced to be produced in France.

It is to note that the arrival of the Peugeot 2008 in Zaragoza will require the transfer of part of the Opel Corsa to Eisenach.
