Inovev predicts more than 80 000 sales for the new Ford Expedition
- Ford unveiled the new generation of Expedition, which is the largest SUV in the brand since its inception in 1997. This model is in its fourth generation (the previous generation was in 2007) and is still based on the platform used by the F-Series pick-up, which was renewed in 2015. The Expedition also has an aluminum body in white . This large SUV is traditionally the direct competitor of the Chevrolet Suburban which is on the same platform as the Silverado pickup. The Expedition has always had a Lincoln version , the Navigator (competitor of the Cadillac Escalade) , and the new Navigator should also be unveiled in the coming months.
- The Ford Expedition has been manufactured at the Louisville (Kentucky) site since 2009, along with the Lincoln Navigator. It was previously manufactured at the Wayne, Michigan site, not far from the site where the F Series is produced. The new generation of Ford Expedition follows a model that had reached nearly 80,000 sales in 2016 (against 60,000 in 2015). The sales figures achieved by the previous generation (2008-2017) are however quite far from those recorded before 2008 (more than 100,000 units per year), but Inovev expects the 80,000 sales to be surpassed again in 2017, despite the expected contraction of the US market is this year.
- The Ford Expedition will, as in the past, only be marketed in North America.
