FCA Group status during the period 2004-2018
- The Italian group Fiat, which produced 2 million vehicles in 2004, became an international group after the acquisition of the American company Chrysler in 2011. In 2017, the Fiat-Chrysler group produced 4.7 million vehicles, becoming the eighth largest world manufacturer, just behind Ford and Honda.
- The FCA group has greatly increased the Jeep brand’s influence worldwide. Jeep production volume has increased from 0.55 million units in 2004 to 1.45 million in 2017. The Ram pickup has become a specific brand.
- The disappearance of the Lancia brand has been confirmed, but an effort has been made to develop sales of Maserati and Alfa-Romeo brands (the results of which will only be visible in several years).
- Conversely, Fiat, Chrysler and Dodge brands have received less attention, with the reduction of the Fiat catalog (no Punto replacement, suspended Tipo replacement ) as well as those of Chrysler and Dodge.
- The FCA group has experienced serious business failures in China, India, Russia and even South America, where competition has increased significantly. The USA now accounts for 44% of the group's worldwide sales.
- The FCA group is lagging behind in the area of common platforms, engine electrification and autonomous driving. Deleveraging has taken precedence over investments in new technologies.
