The future 100% electric Alpine coupé will be manufactured in England at Lotus
- Among the four novelties of the Alpine brand planned for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026, the future coupé with 100% electric motor launched in 2026 which will succeed the current A110 will be produced abroad, in Great Britain, at Lotus.
- Indeed, the British manufacturer was asked for the joint design of the future Alpine coupé, the latter having to use a Lotus platform specially adapted to sports driving. This association between Lotus (part of the Geely group) and Alpine (part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group) makes it possible to reduce and pool production costs for a family of models which will be dedicated to a low volume of sales.
- The Alpine A110 coupé launched in 2017 has thus sold a total of 12,000 copies in four years, or 3,000 per year on average. It will therefore be replaced in 2026 by the new 100% electric coupé designed in partnership with Lotus. This model will be preceded by the launch of the Megane Alpine in 2023 (with 100% electric motorization), the R5 Alpine in 2024 (with 100% electric motorization) and the Alpine crossover in 2025 (with 100% electric motorization).
- The association between Lotus and Alpine is part of a vast more global association plan between the Chinese group Geely and the Franco-Japanese group Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi which plans to reorient the Renault brand towards 100% electric Premium models in China and Korea, thanks to the supply of engines and platforms from the Geely group, more specifically from Volvo Cars (CMA platform).
