The Dacia Spring sold in Europe will be imported from China
Despite the desire of the various governments to relocate part of the automobile production in their country, as in France or in USA, the automotive industry decide on the location of their models according to their own interests. Thus, the Renault group has decided to produce in China (with Dongfeng) all the Dacia Springs sold in the world, which implies that the Springs sold in Europe will be imported from China.

The Spring, which will be the cheapest BEV (if we put aside the Citroën Ami) could thus become the best-selling car in Europe car produced in China, when today it is the MG ZS (also a BEV), which achieved 6,000 sales in the first half of 2020. The Honda Jazz having ceased to be imported from China since the launch of the last generation. It is to remember that Renault's objective is to sell 100,000 Dacia Spring each year in Europe.

The arrival of Chinese cars in Europe (mainly BEV) could therefore begin with the importation of the Dacia Spring, which is also sold in China under the name Renault K-ZE.

Renault decided at the start of the year to stop its sales of combustion engine cars in China, but to continue selling electric cars under its own brand. The problem is that Renault only sold 97 units of the K-ZE in China during the first seven months of 2020, which is not viable, and therefore exporting in large numbers to Europe would make it possible to sustain the carmaker’s production capacities on the Chinese soil.
