Inovev forecasts 75,000 units per year of the new Kia EV6
- Kia has unveiled its new battery electric vehicle (BEV) based on the e-GMP common platform used for all electric models of the Hyundai-Kia group. At Hyundai, we saw the launch of the Ioniq 5 based on this platform which will be followed by several other models in 2022 and 2023. At Kia, we see the launch of this EV6 today, also followed by other models in 2022 and 2023. The Korean carmaker is getting ready for battle to launch its offensive in the electric vehicle market, like other carmakers. Eventually, Hyundai and Kia could market a dozen of different models on this platform, including six from Hyundai and six from Kia. However, the two brands want to differentiate themselves in terms of design, as the Kia EV6 is very different from the Ioniq 5.
- The Kia EV6 is 4.68 m long compared to 4.64 m for the Ioniq 5. Its battery provides 500 km of range compared to 460 km for the Ioniq 5, according to the WLTP cycle.
- Kia emphasizing the sporty side of its EV6 (while Hyundai favors the family side), a GT version will be available, with a power of 535 hp (430 kW) against 325 hp (239 kW) and 228 hp (168 kW) for both basic versions. This GT version can reach 250 km per hour at top speed, like an Audi E-Tron GT or a Porsche Taycan. The communicated prices are 48,000 euros for the 168 kW version, 56,000 euros for the 239 kW version and 67,000 euros for the 430 kW version.
- Kia expects to sell a total of 880,000 electric cars worldwide in 2030. Inovev forecasts 75,000 Kia EV6 sales per year in the medium term.
