Infiniti wants to take advantage of the « Premium » segment growth
- Nissan will produce in the UK a new compact car for its Infiniti brand from 2015 on (forecasted sales: 60,000 units per year).
- The investment is over 250 million pounds (307 million euros) and will create 1,000 jobs in total, including 280 on the site of Sunderland.
- The new vehicle will compete with the Mercedes A-Class, BMW 1 Series and Audi A3 in particular.
- The Sunderland plant will therefore produce five models in 2015: Qashqai, Juke, Note, Leaf and Infiniti compact. The plant capacity is currently 470,000 vehicles per year.
