Overview of the Polish market in 2015

 

The Polish automobile market grew by 9.7% in 2015, to a volume of 0.4 million vehicles (VP+VUL). This market is the biggest in Eastern Europe, ahead of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary.

The Polish market returned to its pre-crisis levels in 2014, and surpassed them in 2015. The volume of the market still remains below its levels of the early 2000s, when it saw an unprecedented boom, reaching 0.5 million vehicles per year. 95% of the vehicles sold in Poland are imported.

By manufacturer, the Volkswagen group (25.6% of the market, +10.6%) remains the leader in the Polish market, well ahead of the Renault-Nissan group (12.9% of the market, +8.8%). These are followed by Toyota (9.5% of the market, +17.6%), Hyundai-Kia (8.2% of the market, +5.2%), PSA (7.7% of the market, -7.1%), GM (7.3% of the market, +2.2%), Ford (7.0% of the market, +9.5%), FCA (5.2% of the market, +5.0%), Daimler (3.1% of the market, +22.3%) and BMW (2.6% of the market, +23.9%). Premium manufacturers Daimler and BMW, along with Volkswagen and Toyota, saw the most significant growth.

The ten best-selling models on the Polish market in 2015 were the following: VW Golf (13 869 vehicles), Skoda Fabia (12 073), Opel Astra (10 640), Toyota Auris (9 710), Toyota Yaris (9 634), Ford Focus (9 186), Skoda Rapid (8 994), VW Passat (8 312), Renault Clio (7 467) and Opel Corsa (6 890). The Volkswagen Group has four models in the top 10.
