The Chinese carmaker Xpeng (which has signed a partnership agreement with the Volkswagen group) will be present at the Munich Motor Show.

The carmaker's range currently consists of the following models:
• Xpeng Mona M03 (battery electric D-segment sedan) = 86,351 sales in the first half of 2025
• Xpeng P7 (battery electric D-segment sedan) = 1,166 sales
• Xpeng P7+ (battery electric D-segment sedan) = 44,578 sales
• Xpeng G6 (battery electric D-segment SUV) = 37,571 sales
• Xpeng G7 (battery electric D-segment SUV) = 573 sales
• Xpeng G9 (battery electric D-segment SUV) = 15,981 sales
• Xpeng X9 (battery electric D-segment MPV) = 10,969 sales

TOTAL = 197,189 sales in the World in the first half of 2025. This makes it a small carmaker in China.
IAA Mobility Munich 2025: Volvo: EX60 and Polestar range
Slovakia is probably the European country that currently has the most assembly plants (Bratislava, Nitra, Trnava, Zilina) in relation to its population (5.5 million inhabitants). A fifth plant is currently being built, with a production capacity of 250,000 vehicles per year. This is the Volvo plant in Košice, which will produce the future battery electric Volvo EX60 and Polestar 7 models from 2028 (Polestar being a subsidiary of Volvo that produces its own vehicles in China and the United States).

The Volvo EX60 will be the battery electric version of the future XC60 SUV (D segment) expected in 2026. It will complete Volvo's EX range, currently composed of the EX30, EX40 and EX90. It will be based on the new SPA3 platform which will integrate advanced technologies such as the assisted driving system.

The Polestar 7, the first electric vehicle produced by Polestar in Europe, will be an SUV derived from the Volvo EX60 and will therefore share the SPA3 platform, its batteries and its motors with the EX60 SUV. There is no doubt that producing this model in Europe will strengthen the presence and awareness of the Polestar brand.

Currently, the Polestar range consists of the Polestar 2 (D-segment sedan), Polestar 3 (E-segment SUV) and Polestar 4 (E-segment SUV), all with battery electric powertrains.

A Polestar 5 sedan (E-segment sedan) is planned for fall 2025. The Polestar 7 SUV (D-segment SUV) is expected to launch in 2026, with part of the production moving from China to Slovakia in 2028.
IAA Mobility Munich 2025: Volkswagen: ID2 X battery electric SUV (launch planned for 2026)
The all-electric Volkswagen ID2 X will be the SUV version of the ID2 (B segment; see specific Inovev) with a slightly different aesthetic. It will use the platform, engines and batteries of the original model. It will be marketed at the end of 2026.

The ID2 X will, however, be slightly more expensive than the ID2 and therefore may sell for less than the ID2.

The Volkswagen ID2 X will be produced in Pamplona.

Inovev expects production of 48,000 units of the ID2 X in 2030, or a total of 110,000 units for the ID2/ID2 X combined in 2030, which would make it the most produced battery electric model in Europe, ahead of the ID1.

These two models will, however, have to avoid too much competition with the future battery electric VW T-Roc to avoid cannibalization between them.

The new positioning of the VW T-Roc in the C segment could nevertheless help it to differentiate itself more clearly from the ID2 and ID2 X positioned in the B segment.
IAA Mobility Munich 2025: Volkswagen: new T-Roc (the brand's first F-HEV model)
T-Roc (B-segment SUV), which dates back to 2017, will be replaced in 2026 (2019 for the convertible). The new generation of this model will be longer than the current generation (4.37 m instead of 4.23 m). It will be marketed for the first time in a full-hybrid version (F-HEV) in 2026 and in a battery electric version (BEV) from 2028.

These launches will be the occasion for a change in the prodution allocation of the model in Volkswagen factories from 2028. The Palmela site (Portugal) will be dedicated to the thermal and hybrid versions of the future T-Roc (in 2026) while the Wolfsburg site (Germany) will be dedicated to the battery electric versions of the future T-Roc (in 2028).

Note that the future battery electric VW Golf will also be produced in Wolfsburg while its thermal and hybrid versions will be produced in Puebla, Mexico, alongside the VW Jetta.

The carmaker will extend production of the thermal and hybrid Tiguans in Wolfsburg until 2033 or even 2035, but a battery electric version should be launched in 2026, also produced in Wolfsburg.

Inovev forecasts a production of 300,000 units of the new Volkswagen T-Roc per year.
IAA Mobility Munich 2025: Volkswagen: ID2 battery electric city car (launch planned for 2026)
The all-electric Volkswagen ID2 (B-segment) will be unveiled at the 2025 Munich Motor Show. It is an “affordable city car” (announced at less than 25,000 euros), based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB Entry platform, located in the carmaker's range below the ID3, ID4 and ID5. It is in fact the all-electric counterpart of the VW Polo. This model, which aims to democratize electromobility within the Volkswagen Group, competes with the Renault 5 E-Tech, Peugeot e-208, Citroën e-C3, Opel e-Corsa, Fiat Grande Panda and Lancia Ypsilon.

Its engine, with a maximum power of 226 hp in the top-of-the-range version, is coupled with two batteries of your choice. Two batteries are provided, the first of 38 kWh (LFP) for the entry-level versions, the second of 56 kWh (NMC) for the top-of-the-range versions, allowing a range of up to 440 km WLTP for the most powerful version.

A SUV ID2 X version (see specific Inovev analysis) with a more urban SUV focus is planned for the end of 2026 and a sportier ID2 GTI version is planned for 2027. The ID2 and ID2 GTI will be produced at the Spanish site in Martorell, alongside the Cupra Raval. The ID2 X will be produced in Pamplona, alongside the other battery electric SUV based on the MEB Entry platform, the Skoda Epiq.

The Volkswagen ID2 (including the ID2 GTI and ID2 X) will have a compact format (Polo type), roominess close to that of the Golf, and a more classic design than previous concepts.

- Inovev expects production of 62,000 units of the ID2 by 2030.
