Paris Motorshow 2026: The VW ID. Tiguan will succeed the VW ID.4
- At the time of its restyling , the Volkswagen ID4 will get a new name (ID Tiguan), while deepening the style evolutions compared to the recent facelift seen on the ID3 renamed ID3 Neo.
- The one that could have been called ID4 Neo will indeed try to get closer to the design of the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV, which will considerably change the appearance of the model.
- For its range of electric vehicles, the German carmaker is returning to its traditional names (ID Polo, ID Cross, ID Tiguan, ID Buzz) which rely on the reputation of the brand's thermal models rather than continuing the numerical names (ID3, ID4, ID5, ID6, ID7) which mean nothing in terms of reputation and which have also had mixed success with the public.
- This is how the ID.2 became the ID. Polo at launch, and the ID.2 X became the ID. Cross, thus recalling the Polo and T-Cross. The ID.1, still in development, could become the ID. Up or ID. Lupo.
- The future electric Volkswagen T-Roc will likely be called the ID. Roc, and the future electric Golf will probably be called the ID. Golf. The ID.7 remains a question mark, as it could become the ID. Passat in a future facelift . As for the ID.5, which has seen low demand, its future seems uncertain, unless Volkswagen develops a coupe version of the Tiguan, something that has never been attempted before , unlike what we've seen with Audi ( Sportback versions of the Q3, Q4, Q5, and Q6).

Paris Motorshow 2026: Inovev forecasts 100,000 units of the new VW ID Cross SUV in 2031
- Volkswagen has unveiled the fourth model in its quartet of battery-electric B-segment small cars assembled in Spain at two different plants: Pamplona and Martorell. Following the Cupra Raval, Skoda Epiq, and Volkswagen ID.Polo, comes the Volkswagen ID. Cross, which is essentially the SUV version of the ID. Polo, although it shares no body panels with it. However, the MEB+ platform is common to all four models, as are the electric motor and the LFP and NMC batteries.
- The Volkswagen ID Cross is 4.15 m long, the same length as the Renault 4 E-Tech, its main competitor.
- It will be assembled at the Pamplona plant alongside the internal combustion-engine Volkswagen T-Cross and Taigo, as well as the electric Skoda Epiq, which shares the same philosophy as the ID. Cross, while the Cupra Raval and Volkswagen ID.Polo are assembled at the Martorell plant alongside the Cupra Formentor, Cupra Leon, Seat Leon, Seat Arona, Seat Ibiza with internal combustion engine.
- The Volkswagen Group hopes to sell a total of 400,000 units of its four all-electric small cars by 2030. Inovev believes this goal is only achievable from 2032 onwards. Inovev forecasts 100,000 sales of the Volkswagen ID. Cross in 2031, matching sales of the Volkswagen ID. Polo. The ID. Cross is expected to start at €28,000.
- As a reminder, all four models are available with a choice of a 37 kWh LFP or 52 kWh NMC battery, allowing a range of 316 km or 436 km respectively for the ID Cross.

Paris Motorshow 2026: Inovev forecasts 40,000 units per year for the new Skoda Peaq SUV
- Czech manufacturer Skoda has unveiled its large, all-electric, seven-seater SUV, the Peaq (4.87 m long), just a few weeks after unveiling its small, all-electric SUV, the Epiq (4.17 m long). Its boxy, sleek design deliberately contrasts with Audi's all-electric SUVs (Q4 and Q6). Skoda's range of all-electric SUVs is now complete, with the Epiq (B segment), the Elroq (C segment), the Enyaq (D segment), and now the Peaq (E segment).
- The new Skoda Peaq is based on an evolution of the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, already used in the Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, and ID.7, among others. It features a choice of three electric motors (204 hp, 286 hp, and 299 hp) and two battery options: a 63 kWh (NMC) version and a 91 kWh (NMC) version, the latter being the largest battery ever fitted to a Skoda electric model. The advertised range is over 600 km, specifically 640 km for the model equipped with the larger battery.
- The Skoda Peaq will be produced at the Mlada Boleslav plant in the Czech Republic, at a rate of 40,000 units per year, according to Inovev. Mlada Boleslav is Skoda's historic site and now a major production center for battery systems for all Volkswagen Group brands.
- The direct competitors of the new Skoda Peaq are the Tesla Model Y Long Range, Mercedes EQE SUV, BMW iX and iX 5, and especially the Peugeot e-5008, Hyundai Ioniq 9, Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90.

Paris Motorshow 2026: Inovev forecasts 75,000 units per year for the new VW ID Polo
- Volkswagen has unveiled its new all-electric B-segment hatchback, initially slated to be called the ID.2, but ultimately named the ID. Polo. The rather impersonal names ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5 don't seem to have been very successful, while the ID. Polo name immediately evokes the Polo, positioning it as the direct successor to the internal combustion engine Volkswagen Polo. The ID. Polo's design also returns to the fundamentals of the Volkswagen brand, as the very geometric design of the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5, lacking any reference to the brand's heritage, may have alienated some potential customers.
- The new Volkswagen ID. Polo, positioned as a direct rival to the Renault 5 E-Tech, Peugeot e-208, Opel e-Corsa, Citroën e-C3 , Fiat Grande Panda EV, and even the Cupra Raval, measures 4.05 meters long, 2 cm shorter than the combustion engine version, which remains in production (likely until 2030). The ID. Polo will be assembled at the Martorell plant in Spain at an annual rate of 75,000 units, according to Inovev, while the combustion engine version has been assembled in South Africa since last year (and exported to Europe). Production volume is not expected to be higher, as the ID. Polo, based on the MEB+ platform, will face competition from two other VW models: the ID. Cross (the SUV version of the ID. Polo) and the ID. Lupo (an A-segment hatchback), which will take away some of its customers.
- Two battery options are available for the ID. Polo: a 37 kWh LFP and a 52 kWh NMC, while the electric motor offers four power levels (85 kW, 99 kW, 155 kW, 166 kW). The manufacturer estimates a range of 329 km for the model equipped with the LFP battery according to the WLTP cycle and a range of 455 km for the one with the NMC battery.

Paris Motorshow 2026: Inovev forecasts 75,000 units per year for the new Skoda Epiq
- The Skoda brand (a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group) continues to expand its range of electric cars downwards. After the launch of the D-segment Enyaq (4.65 m long) in 2021 and the C-segment Elroq (4.49 m long) in 2024, here comes the B-segment Epiq (4.17 m long) in 2026.
- The Skoda Epiq is one of four small B-segment electric cars launched by the Volkswagen Group in 2026 and produced in Spain, namely the Volkswagen ID Polo, the Volkswagen ID Cross, the Cupra Raval and the Skoda Epiq.
- All four are based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB+ platform, specifically designed for B-segment electric vehicles. Given its positioning and price (from €26,470 to €39,050 depending on the version) , the Skoda Epiq could sell an average of 75,000 units per year until 2030 (the C-segment Elroq sold 87,960 units in 2025) and more than 100,000 units per year after 2030. It will primarily compete with the Renault 4 E-Tech and Kia EV2.
- The Skoda Elroq is powered by an electric motor offered in three power levels: a 116 hp (85 kW) version coupled with a 37 kWh LFP battery, a 135 hp (99 kWh) version coupled with the same 37 kWh LFP battery and a 211 hp (155 kWh) version coupled with a 52 kWh NMC battery.
- The two least powerful versions offer a range of 310 km, while the most powerful boasts a range of 440 km. The Skoda Epiq will be produced at the Pamplona plant in Spain, alongside the Volkswagen ID. Cross.
