Renault ceased the production of the Fiat Talento
Anticipating the merger between PSA and FCA which should take place in early 2021, Renault has decided to stop the production of the Fiat Talento van, which has been based since 2016 on the Renault Trafic and the Nissan NV300. This production shutdown of the Talento at the Sandouville plant took effect in December 2020.

The Talento (segment N1-2) was in the Fiat LUV (Light Utility Vehicle) range between the Doblo (segment N1-1) and the Ducato (segment N1-3). In 2016, it replaced the Scudo model which was derived from the Citroën Jumpy and Peugeot Expert of the previous generation.

The production peak of the Talentoat the Renault plant in Sandouville was reached in 2019, with a volume of 40,000 units, but with the Covid-19 crisis, its production fell to 25,000 units in 2020. In total, 125,000 Talento were produced between 2016 and 2020.

The Talento should therefore be replaced in 2021 by an LUV derived from the current generation of Citroën Jumpy and Peugeot Expert marketed since 2016. This is a decision recently taken by the management of FCA with the aim of rationalizing the range of LUVs inside the future Stellantis group.

The current Fiat Talento will therefore have been produced only during four years, whereas this type of model generally has a life cycle of more than ten years, which represents a life cycle 1.5 times that of passenger cars. The next Fiat LUV in this segment should be produced in Valenciennes, like the Jumpy and Expert. It remains unclear whether the future Fiat LUV in the N1-2 segment will be called Talento or whether it will take on the Scudo name. Nothing has been announced to date.
